Copra—the dried white kernel of the coconut from which coconut oil is extracted—is a cornerstone of the economy and rural livelihood in the Republic of Vanuatu. Often referred to locally through the vital presence of the coconut palm (the "tree of life"), copra production anchors agricultural trade across islands like Espiritu Santo, Malakula, and Efate.

Major Export & Cash Crop: Copra is historically one of Vanuatu’s most important traditional cash crops and primary export commodities, driving a substantial portion of the nation's rural income and export earnings.
Smallholder Backbone: Thousands of rural ni-Vanuatu farming households engage in coconut cultivation and copra processing as a primary source of livelihood.
